Consultations take place at Salem Mill in Hebden Bridge town centre, or can sometimes be via phone or video call for people further afield.
What to expect
The initial consultation will take approximately one hour, after which I will take time to write your individual Treatment Plan which I will email to you.
During the first consultation we'll talk through your current health issues and I'll also ask you about your medical history throughout your life. This is a chance to hear the story of your health in depth and to identify your priorities for what you want to change. I'll ask to do a physical examination where necessary, such as taking your blood pressure or listening to your chest. I may suggest some realistic diet changes and lifestyle shifts, or supplements as appropriate. I will prescribe and dispense a personal herbal medicine blend which may be a tincture, tea, capsules or cream. Please bring:
A full list of any medications and supplements that you currently take.
If possible: any recent test results.
How quickly we can expect to see improvement depends on the conditions treated. For example an acute infection should improve within two days and would not always require a follow-up appointment. Long standing chronic conditions should see real improvement within four months. Menstrual and hormonal imbalances should see marked improvement within four cycles. Some conditions will benefit from continuing treatment for over a year. We will regularly check in to make sure the prescription and recommendations are actively working for you.

Reduced rates are available for people on benefits and for anyone who would struggle to complete a course of treatment due to cost - please let me know. Initial consultation & treatment plan - 60 minutes - in person where possible - £80 adults; £45 under 18s. What's included?

Follow-up consultations - 30 minutes - in person / phone / online - £25 adult; £15 under 18s. At each follow-up consultation we explore the effects of the herbs so far and I adjust the prescription in response to this. Our first follow-up takes place after two weeks of treatment. As we continue to work together the follow-ups can get further apart to every four or six weeks. For people working with me long-term we're often able to just meet every eight weeks if your health is stable.
Coaching calls - 15 minutes - phone / online - £15 Coaching calls are an optional extra - some people find these really helpful for staying motivated towards their health goals, especially where diet or lifestyle changes are part of the plan.
Cost of herbs - between £5 - £15 per week As with the consultations if the cost of herbs is not manageable for you, let me know and we'll figure something out. A typical adult herbal prescription costs around £11 per week but this can vary greatly based on your budget, your health condition(s) and whether you enjoy taking different preparations (e.g. a tincture, a tea and capsules). It's possible to bring the cost down to £5 a week where necessary.
Access to Salem Mill
The clinic room is on the first floor, up two flights of steps. There is a chair lift. There are toilets on the same level as the clinic room. Parking at Salem Mill is only available for people with mobility issues - please let me know in advance. Home visits can often be arranged within the local area.
