About Ash

I am a professionally qualified and registered Medical Herbalist based in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire.  I am passionate about working with traditional plant medicines to support the health of my community.  I use these herbal blends together with personalised coaching, working alongside you to rebuild your health.  I take a down to earth approach, always looking for a practical and affordable solution. For example, let's see what a cheap and simple personalised herbal tea blend or tincture can do for you before we think about referring you for expensive private tests!

I hold a Diploma in Herbal Medicine, graduating with distinction.  This qualification required 500 patient-facing clinical hours and incorporated in depth training in anatomy, physiology, pathology, clinical examination, pharmaceutical medicine, nutrition, botany, biochemistry, diagnostic skills, differential diagnosis, functional medicine, phytotherapy and the science and tradition of herbal medicine.

I particularly welcome clients with migraines as the difference herbal treatment can make to quality of life is so rewarding. Another special interest is herbal care for wounds - be that acute or chronic, hard-to-heal wounds.

I also love to work with my LGBT+ community who can find it harder to access competent and appropriate healthcare.

About herbal medicine

Humans have always gathered plants for medicine and nourishment.  Traditional uses of herbs have been passed down through the ages and now herbalists can combine this historical knowledge with the findings of scientific research.  Herbalists look beyond the symptoms to consider the health of the whole person - the interplay between all the body's systems are taken into account and a specific combination of herbs is prescribed to bring the body back towards balance. A herbal medicine prescription is a blend of herbs as an alcohol based tincture, a tea or decoction, capsules of powdered herbs or a cream for external use.  I love to use herbs that grow in Yorkshire and the UK wherever possible.

What can be treated with herbs?
